FOUR ‘green’ projects in South Tyneside have been shortlisted for major awards.
The Sinclair Meadows housing development, off Laygate, South Shields; Holburn House in Mill Dam, South Shields, The One Trinity Green business centre and the South Shields Riverside regeneration project are all in the running for Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors North East Renaissance Awards, the region’s property ‘Oscars.’
For Sinclair Meadows, the UK’s first carbon negative social housing development, it is the second award nomination in a matter or weeks.
Last month it was shortlisted for Development of the Year in the UK Housing Awards 2013. In the RICS awards, it is shortlisted in both the design and innovation and regeneration categories.
Holburn House, a housing development in an historic building, is nominated in the conservation and residential sections.
The Riverside project is nominated in the regeneration category.
Winners in the conservation, design and innovation and regeneration categories will be entered into the national RICS Awards.
Chairman of the RICS North East Renaissance Awards judging panel, David Furniss, said: “Last year we achieved a record 97 nominations and were a little nervous that entries may be down slightly. “But we were delighted to find we have set a new record this year, with 105.”
The winners will be announced on Friday, April 19.
