The £100m regeneration of South Shields town centre was unveiled to over 100 business delegates at a launch event held at One Trinity Green in January 2013.
South Tyneside Council’s 365 Town Centre Vision to make South Shields a destination for shopping, cultural and leisure activities all year round for residents, businesses and visitors is an exciting prospect for us all, and the team here at One Trinity Green were delighted to be in the thick of the action when this great new initiative was launched.
So what makes a town centre a great place to do business and can we replicate that here in South Shields? London has long been the place to do business, with great restaurants, culture and night-life, as well as being the country’s political hub. Balance that though, with the cost of living, the price of business space and staff salaries and South Tyneside shines through as a great prospect.
In recent years major regeneration in cities such as Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham have had a huge impact on the local economy and there is plenty of research that reveals the key factors to take into account when starting or growing a business. South Shields comes out with a high score for many of these factors, including public transport and road links, premises, the workforce, grants and funding and quality of life.
Local people need employment, decent homes and a town centre they can be proud of; a place where they want to live, work and play for generations to come and if South Tyneside Council can lead the area to achieve the vision set out at the 365 launch, South Shields is well and truly open for business!
