Intent on Success

JC

In the coming months we’ll be using the blog to focus on tenants and find out a bit more about what makes them tick.  Today we turn the spotlight on Jacqui Chapman, Director of J.C. Events.

Jacqui and her team recently moved into One Trinity Green and work with
a wide range of clients to deliver events. Taking office and manufacturing
space Jacqui’s business is rapidly expanding.

Jacqui offers the full event production service from creative concept to dynamic delivery.  Whether it’s a conference, exhibition, awards dinner or just a great party, Jacqui and her team bring their unique flair and personal touch to provide vibrant events with state-of-the-art audio visual technology. We asked her

Why did you choose to be based at One Trinity Green?

I was looking for somewhere new to locate my business and wanted to be in a place that had fresh impetus and an innovative and exciting attitude to doing business. One Trinity Green fits the bill in so many ways. There is a choice of office space, and I quickly found one perfect for my current team and from where we can grow. We need to keep in touch with clients at all hours and the centre has an incredibly fast and trustworthy Wi-Fi and internet capabilities. It also had a separate workshop from where we could construct our sets and store our props and equipment.  We are very busy and although there’s not a lot of time to relax but when we do you’ll find us enjoying the rooftop garden which has been perfect with the recent weather.

Your business takes you all over the North East – why is being located in South Tyneside so important to you?

It’s important because we need to be able reach clients and venues quickly to arrange meetings, check briefs and ensure the staging of each and every event is right. Getting the timing right is vital, and although all our events are rehearsed and perfectly structured, every minute can count. South Tyneside is so centrally located geographically within the region that I can be in Newcastle and Sunderland within 20 minutes, Teesside straight down the A19 in around 40 minutes, and of course through the Tyne Tunnel in little more than five. I’ve found the area to have an extremely positive outlook towards business and there’s a sense that things are getting done and progress is being made.

What are your plans to grow your business?

JC Events was established just four months ago and we’ve been incredibly busy, so much so that we’ve been able to expand our workforce on the back of recent contract wins and event orders. We work with a wide range of clients who want many and varied types of staging for their events, which is always challenging but incredibly satisfying. We’ve already worked for Fuji Films, RICs, Eurogamer, Prime Entertainment, PR agency White Hot Communications, and staged Newcastle Building Society’s 150th anniversary party. Other clients include Benfield Motors, NOF Energy, NEEF, Intersnack, Cestria, 2Macs, Rainbow Trust, GameHorizon, and Albion Overseas. We have also been signed up by PD Ports for a big event in October. Through working to the highest levels of customer care and satisfaction we intend to continue growing the business adding to both the core events and office team.

What would you say to a business looking to set up at OTG?

I’d wholeheartedly say go for it or, at the very least give a slice of your time to meeting Siobhan and her team. There’s nothing to be lost and a vast amount to be gained by any business which wants to operate from a vibrant and totally user-friendly centre alongside like-minded, talented business people intent on success. I’ve been working around the North East for many years and I can’t think of anywhere quite like it, there’s nowhere else I’d be based.

“It’s a model for future eco technologies, but it’s here today”

It’s a model for future eco technologies, but it’s here today and the daily business carried out under its roof is causing quite a stir.

In the space of a few short months the £5.4m One Trinity Green has captured the imagination of the 3,000 plus business people who have passed through its doors since they first opened in September 2012. And what they have found has impressed.  In a cocoon of environmentally-friendly energy systems, it is a place where deals are done, contacts made and expertise shared.

Open to tenants 24-hours-a-day, seven days-a-week, it is also a hive of activity for people hiring its facilities – not least due to its well-equipped conference facilities.

At all times the skilled and dedicated front desk team are on hand to support users organise their events, ensuring they get exactly what they need for their meeting, conference or workshop to hit the right note.

One Trinity Green lands another award

One Trinity Green has landed The Legacy – Sustainability prize at the ninth annual Constructing Excellence in the North East (CENE) ceremony. Judges praised the way principles of sustainable construction and/or sustainable development that will leave a positive and long-lasting legacy had been applied to the innovative £5.4m office development.

For that, its technical achievement, innovation, application of best practice, team-working throughout the supply chain, in-time delivery, budget and high quality, were judged.  The win and the placing further enhance the centre’s reputation as one of the North East’s most highly sought-after places for growing and innovative high-tech firms to do business.

CENE is the regional partner to Constructing Excellence, the single organisation charged with driving the change agenda in construction, housing and regeneration nationally.  As the winner of one of 14 categories, One Trinity Green will now compete in the National Constructing Excellence Awards in the autumn.  CENE aims to deliver improved industry performance for a better environment while exceeding the expectation of clients and stakeholders by delivering world-class products and services.

FOUR ‘green’ projects in South Tyneside have been shortlisted for major awards.

The Sinclair Meadows housing development, off Laygate, South Shields; Holburn House in Mill Dam, South Shields, The One Trinity Green business centre and the South Shields Riverside regeneration project are all in the running for Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors North East Renaissance Awards, the region’s property ‘Oscars.’

For Sinclair Meadows, the UK’s first carbon negative social housing development, it is the second award nomination in a matter or weeks.

Last month it was shortlisted for Development of the Year in the UK Housing Awards 2013.  In the RICS awards, it is shortlisted in both the design and innovation and regeneration categories.

One Trinity Green, on the old Circatex factory site in South Shields, is nominated in both the design and innovation and the commercial categories.

Holburn House, a housing development in an historic building, is nominated in the conservation and residential sections.

The Riverside project is nominated in the regeneration category.

Winners in the conservation, design and innovation and regeneration categories will be entered into the national RICS Awards.

Chairman of the RICS North East Renaissance Awards judging panel, David Furniss, said: “Last year we achieved a record 97 nominations and were a little nervous that entries may be down slightly.  “But we were delighted to find we have set a new record this year, with 105.”

The winners will be announced on Friday, April 19.

Perfect new home for renewable energy business, ARPower

Choosing One Trinity Green to rent office space in South Tyneside for its Northern operations was an easy decision for renewable energy company ARPower.

(Advanced Renewable Power Ltd) design, supply, install and commission renewable energy systems for businesses and homes across North East England and the Scottish Borders.  The company’s owners are passionate about renewable energy and environmental sustainability, and being able to move into business premises that have already achieved a five-star “Outstanding” rating from the Building Research Establishment (BRE) was too good an opportunity to turn down.

Arp Advanced Renewable Power“Our company ethos and green credentials are entirely in line with those of One Trinity Green, making our partnership very strong, explains Admin & Finance Director Maria Pittiglio .  “We can definitely say that the decision to rent an office in South Tyneside has been a turning point for our company, and we’re excited that through being located at One Trinity Green even more local businesses can experience the benefits of environmentally sustainable systems too.”

One Trinity Green hosted South Shields 365 launch

The £100m regeneration of South Shields town centre was unveiled to over 100 business delegates at a launch event held at One Trinity Green in January 2013.

South Tyneside Council’s 365 Town Centre Vision to make South Shields a destination for shopping, cultural and leisure activities all year round for residents, businesses and visitors is an exciting prospect for us all, and the team here at One Trinity Green were delighted to be in the thick of the action when this great new initiative was launched.

South Shields 365 Town Centre vision YouTube

So what makes a town centre a great place to do business and can we replicate that here in South Shields?  London has long been the place to do business, with great restaurants, culture and night-life, as well as being the country’s political hub.  Balance that though, with the cost of living, the price of business space and staff salaries and South Tyneside shines through as a great prospect.

In recent years major regeneration in cities such as Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham have had a huge impact on the local economy and there is plenty of research that reveals the key factors to take into account when starting or growing a business. South Shields comes out with a high score for many of these factors, including public transport and road links, premises, the workforce, grants and funding and quality of life.

Local people need employment, decent homes and a town centre they can be proud of;  a place where they want to live, work and play for generations to come and if South Tyneside Council can lead the area to achieve the vision set out at the 365 launch, South Shields is well and truly open for business!
